To Fill the Void

I was hooked start to finish because it read like a true-to-life story. I was there with John when his son Sam set off to join the marines. I was there with John while he waited for word. I was there with John when he missed the call because he went on a bender. I even sort of understood the whole thing he did wrong, although I can't condone it. In all honesty the "novel" read like a confession in the way someone dramatising their life would do. (I'm not saying that's what it is.) I'm just saying it was this element that kept me hooked. Written in the first person it definitely reads autobiographical. Fantastic.
